Basic Orientation on S.E.T. Project: Solar Night Lamp Assembling and Ecobricking will be held on:
*January 12, 2018 (Friday, 8AM-5PM) and
*January 13, 2018 (Saturday, 8AM-5PM)
at Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila (RCAM) Ministry on Ecology, Caritas Manila Compound, 2002 Jesus St., Pandacan, Manila.

Aral Pinoy's S.E.T. Project is in partnership with Ms Pearl Angeline Bengullo-Pertubal and Ms Jasmine Sabrina Rombaoa, Faculty Representatives for Senior High School of FEU Diliman, to launch an eye-opening exposure advocacy-engagement among their Grade 12 students.

Aral Pinoy's S.E.T. Project is in collaboration with Ms Lou Arsenio, Co-Founder of the Catholic Stewards of Creation for ECO-Tabang DIY (Ecological Help [Tabang] Do It Yourself) Solar Night Lamp Trainors-Training. Ms Lou Arsenio is also a Certified Pet Bottle Ecobrick Trainer (trained by Russell Maier and Ani Himawati Co Founder and Principal of Global Ecobrick Alliance) and the Coordinator, RCAM Ministry of Ecology.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

B. Long Lasting – The sustainability and environmental protection initiatives should be sustainable and viable such that there is a long lasting effect on the business and communities they impact. Describe the time and/or resources involved in achieving success in your project.

C. Stakeholder Collaboration – The sustainability and environmental protection initiatives and programs should promote the value of volunteerism to its workforce and the local community such that employees are encouraged to contribute their talents and skills.

D. Relevance – The sustainability and environmental protection initiatives and programs should be relevant to the current needs of the community they have served.

Social Impact – The sustainability and environmental protection initiative(s) or initiatives should have left a strong footprint in our society and served as an inspiration for other organizations to follow. Provide relevant data and other evidence which demonstrates improvements that have occurred.

Aral Pinoy goes to Sitio Taguisan on March 26, 2016...

March 24, Thursday, while doing Bisita Iglesia with my cousin, i was looking around the churches and there were tarpauline saying feed the hungry that caught my attention. At the back of my mind, i am already planning an outreach program to celebrate my birthday this coming May. I already know whom to tap for donations and will ask family members and some closest friend to help. Wrote down my plan in a small notebook before i went to bed.

March 25, Good Friday. Woke up, checked Facebook and there the first thing i saw was the post of my former campus ministry [volunteer] coordinator Antonio Ingles that he needs volunteers and donations of 100 cupcakes are also needed for Aral Pinoy's feeding program on Black Saturday. Without any hesitation, I replied to the post and said YES I can make it to the day of the outreach and that the 100 cupcakes is on me. While having breakfast, i suddenly remembered that our pantry is already short of eggs and flour. I just prayed and asked for guidance. Guidance that i would not make any mistakes, that the eggs that we currently have would fit 3 recipes, and that flour would just be exact or enough for the recipe. Lastly, presence of mind in dividing the batter so that I could yield minimum of 100 cupcakes (kahit saktong 100, ok lang kahit wala ng sobra for mom to eat ok lang she would understand). Thank God, I produced more than 100 cupcakes. :)

I have no idea where Sitio Taguisan is, when i got a text message from Sir Toni that we would meet in St. Therese of The Child Jesus Parish Church in Marcos Highway, I was so happy. I am a devotee since i was in high school, and it would be my first time to to this church, I was actually more excited to make a wish more than anything else. :)

Sitio Taguisan, first reaction "o ok pala dito parang exclusive village sa bundok" but no. We just parked somewhere in that village and went to the mountain.

I am so humbled to be part of this outreach program of Aral Pinoy.

To Sir Toni, thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for still believing in me that i still do have a heart of a volunteer. Thank you, that you served as my eye opener that i still can bake even though i was at this point that i wanted to sell out all my baking equipment because i have already lost passion. Thank you for bringing the old me back again. Just like Jesus, i have risen :)

Funds started training on vegetable gardening

Bahay Kubo Vegetable Gardeners October 11, 2014

2011 National Nutrition Survey reported that 23% of Filipino kids claimed to be food insecure. 5 out of 10 are suffering from malnutrition. Nationwide more than 3 million of them are suffering from this health problem.

Moreover, climate change affects all four dimensions of food security: 1. availability, 2. accessibility, 3. utilization and 4. stability. The challenge now is to identify a pathway to achieving food security in the context of climate change. This demands major interventions at local level.

ARALPINOY.ORG INC (a.k.a. Aral Pinoy) is committed to feed 3,000 malnourished Filipino children both from Cavite and Lipa by helping their parents to cultivate sustainable gardening system to address household food security that provides micro-nutrient-rich and fresh vegetables for a year.

Aral Pinoy (Education Philippines) donors  have displayed their generosity to help poor Filipino household to feed its members with fresh vegetables. This demo-project was initiated with a capital of $505.00 from four generous donors.

We need to raise $5,000.00 to feed 3,000 poor Filipino children with fresh vegetables, but we had already made our first disbursement on the ground so that we could immediately begin to provide initial help to the parents of these poor Filipino children in Batangas.

Bahay Kubo Vegetable Gardeners October 12, 2014

On October 11 and 12, 2014, Aral Pinoy (Education Philippines) organized a two-day FREE hands-on seminar/training on sustainable vegetable gardening system among 30 parents to produce micro-nutrient-rich and fresh vegetables. It is an actual demo, hands-on experience and guided supervision on how to cultivate in a 50sqm lot the 18 vegetables found in a popular Filipino folk song "Bahay Kubo" (Nipa Hut): Singkamas, Talong, Sigarilyas, Mani, Sitaw, Bataw, Patani, Kundol, Patola, Upo, Kalabasa, Labanos, Mustasa, Sibuyas, Kamatis, Bawang, Luya, Linga.

Feed 3,000 Poor Filipino Kids with Fresh Vegetables

 

Summary

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In spite of all the national government's efforts today, there is still a need to come up with stronger local household-led initiatives and concrete action to address food insecurity. A Filipino household consists of five members. However, many parents from the households of Cavite and Lipa in rural areas have no financial means to cultivate sustainable vegetable garden.

How will this project solve this problem?
Aral Pinoy will organize a FREE hands-on seminar on sustainable vegetable gardening system among 100 gardeners/parents to produce micro-nutrient-rich and fresh vegetables. It is an actual demo, hands-on experience and guided supervision on how to cultivate in a 50sqm lot the 18 vegetables found in a popular Filipino folk song "Bahay Kubo" (Nipa Hut): Singkamas, Talong, Sigarilyas, Mani, Sitaw, Bataw, Patani, Kundol, Patola, Upo, Kalabasa, Labanos, Mustasa, Sibuyas, Kamatis, Bawang, Luya, Linga.

Potential Long Term Impact
The bigger goal is not only to make one Filipino household less hungry but to end hunger for all Filipinos. Through quality EDUCATION, life-giving RELATIONSHIPS and being true FILIPINO, this project ensures that the 100 gardeners/parents cultivate sustainable vegetable garden to address household food security, improve access to a variety of micro-nutrient-rich and fresh vegetables and generate income to improve the quality of life and livelihood specially among those in rural areas.

This project has started accepting donations on Monday, September 01, 2014.
